President William Ruto has urged prosecutorial agencies from different countries across the globe to work closely together amid rising rising complex and transnational criminal threats.
The head of State was speaking in Mombasa during the Commonwealth Heads of Prosecuting Agencies Conference hosted at Sarova Whitesands.
”The use of complex criminal tactics, such as sophisticated encrypted social media platforms and cryptocurrency to finance transnational organized crime, makes it complicated for any single agency or country to confront these ever-evolving risks in isolation,” Noted President Ruto.
He urged the global justice community to work collaboratively and share intelligence, resources, and best practices to effectively dismantle organized criminal networks that exploit technology to operate across jurisdictions undetected.
President Ruto also reaffirmed Kenya’s government willingness to invest heavily in technology to improve efficiency due to the changing dynamics in criminal world.
”We must also leverage technology to enhance the efficiency and delivery of justice through the criminal justice system,” he added
This conference comes at a time the country is facing National Security threats from almost all it’s neighbors according to earlier report by the Director of National Intelligence, Noordin Hajji thus discussions on issues of cybercrime, terrorism, human trafficking, and economic crimes that were of main interest during this conference are exactly what Kenyan needed.
On the other hand as the President calls for collaboration of multinational prosecutorial agencies, the government needs to deal corruption, weak enforcement, and porous borders which exacerbated the threat.
