Police officers based at Busia Police Station have arrested two suspects in Marach area and seized 8,750 litres of suspected ethanol during a night operation after a tip-off from the public concerning a lorry suspected of transporting illegal substances.
In a statement by the National Police Service (NPS), authorities confirmed the seizure of the illegal substance.
“Upon inspection, the vehicle was found to be carrying a consignment of 35 plastic drums, each with a capacity of approximately 250 litres, containing what is suspected to be ethanol. The total volume of the illicit substance seized amounted to 8,750 litre,” read the statement in part.
“NPS commends members of the public for providing the information that led to the success of the operation,” NPS added.
According to the police, the two suspect are in police custody pending court arraignment.
