Following a report of a robbery with violence on 28th June at Parklands Police Station, officers made a significant breakthrough.

After pursuing several leads, investigators identified a vehicle linked to the crime.

The suspect was tracked down and arrested in Eldoret town, Uasin Gishu on Wednesday, July 2, where a silver Toyota Axio was recovered from the suspect.

After inspecting the vehicle, the police recovered a reflector jacket, a police headdress with a white cover, and two different vehicle registration plates.

The suspect and the recovered items were escorted to Parklands Police Station for further processing.

This incident comes a week after a 38-year-old woman was arrested for scamming a Chinese national of over KSh13 million.

According to police reports, Harriet Mary Wabwire, the suspect, allegedly posed as the Director of OTD Group Limited, claiming she could supply aluminium alloys.

In her elaborate scheme, she provided the victim with a forged bill of lading and a counterfeit Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) certificate of conformity.

These documents falsely indicated that a consignment of 23,890 kilograms of aluminium alloys had been securely packed in a 40-foot container, ready for shipment from the Port of Mombasa to Ningbo, China.

After the unsuspecting complainant transferred USD 101,000 into Wabwire’s bank account, she reportedly switched off her phone and disappeared.

Diligent investigations and forensic leads led detectives to her hideout in Tassia, where she was apprehended. Wabwire is currently in custody, undergoing processing, awaiting arraignment.
