An autopsy has confirmed that 17-year-old Brian Ndung’u Wanjiru was shot and killed during the June 25 2025 protests in Olkalou, Nyandarua County.

The postmortem was conducted by government pathologist Dr. Titus Ngulungu at JM Hospital Mortuary in the presence of the deceased’s family, officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA).

According to Dr. Ngulungu, Brian died from two gunshot wounds, with the fatal bullets entering through his upper right back. He was among the Gen Z protestors who had gathered in Olkalou Town to demonstrate when he was found injured. He was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

While addressing the press after the postmortem, the family said they were satisfied with the findings but appealed for help from well-wishers and leaders. They are preparing to bury Brian on Saturday at their home in Shamata area, Ndaragwa Constituency.

“We are still in shock. Our son was unarmed, just a child raising his voice for a better future. We feel forgotten and abandoned in our fight for justice,” a family member said.

They also pleaded with county leaders to stand with them, noting the emotional and financial burden they now carry in the wake of their son’s tragic death.
