Blogger Ndiangui Kinyagia has been asked to present himself at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters to record a statement, following his unexpected court appearance on Thursday, 4th July 2025.

In a statement released by the Office of the Inspector General, the National Police Service said Kinyagia remains a person of interest and must cooperate with ongoing investigations.

His reappearance comes after he was reported missing, sparking public outcry and accusations that he had been abducted by police claims the NPS has strongly denied.

“The National Police Service urges Mr. Ndiangui Kinyagia to present himself to the DCI Headquarters to record a statement,” the statement reads.

Kianyagia resurfaced after family Lawyer Wahome Thuku sent a statement saying he has been in hiding fearing arrest from officers from the DCI following a controversial post he shared in his social media accounts.

In his ruling High Court Judge Chacha Mwita bared the police from arresting the blogger saying he was free to present himself to record a statement.

Police further warned against what they termed as a growing trend of individuals faking abductions and giving false information to the authorities, saying such actions are criminal and punishable by law.

The Service reaffirmed its commitment to due process, warning that attempts to mislead the public only serve to undermine justice and law enforcement efforts.
