Two allies of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua Peter Wanjiru, alias Kawanjiru, and Serah Thiga are expected to appear before the Kahawa Law Courts today Tuesday 8 July, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. for plea taking on terrorism-related charges.
The court had initially scheduled the plea session for yesterday, but it was postponed due to the nationwide Saba Saba protests.
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) were directed by the court to present the suspects for arraignment without further delay.
In addition, the court granted the defence team led by Senior Counsel Kalonzo Musyoka and advocate Andrew Muge access to the accused at their respective detention facilities ahead of today’s proceedings.
Kawanjiru is currently held at Ruaraka Police Station, while Thiga is being detained at Capitol Hill Police Station.
The duo faces terrorism-related charges linked to the alleged large-scale destruction of government offices in Kikuyu, incidents authorities say were part of coordinated acts of sabotage.
