The Principal Secretary for Roads, Eng. Joseph Mbugua, today toured Nyandarua County following a series of demos from residents over poor road status in the Oljororok and Olkalou constituencies, which were launched by President William Ruto early last year.
The tarmacking of the 44-kilometer Boiman-Kwa Mumbi road that passes through Charagita was launched on 11th January 2024 by President William Ruto, but for a section of the Charagita-Boiman Road, nothing has been done since it was launched, and this ignited anger among locals, forcing them to take to the streets.

Speaking to media, PS Joseph Mbugua regretted that some works had been delayed due to lack of funds.
He, however, the locals that the road works, which had stalled, will resume immediately, the national government has already allocated funds for completion of all stalled roads country.
“We now have positive news for both residents and contractors. We have the money with us. You will see that the previously halted road-construction projects are being completed. The contractors must now work quickly to construct them,” said Mbugua.
Ol Jororok Mp Michael Muchira and his Ol Kalou counterpart, David Kiaraho, who accompanied him, hailed the move to complete the roads, saying that they would go a long way in developing the region.
“We have suffered for too long since Nyandarua is deemed as marginalized. We have for now witnessed development since this government took over,” said Muchira.
Kiaraho noted that this will be a thing of the past, seeing farmers produce rot in the farms due to the poor roads.

PS Mbugua noted that the government, through the roads department, has released Sh 65 billion to pay contractors their pending bills. Consequently, those who have not completed their work have been ordered to do so as per their stipulated deadlines.
