A man arrested in Kitui Central for drug possession is expected to appear in court on Monday, 21 July 2025, to face charges related to narcotics trafficking. The man is currently in police custody awaiting arraignment.
The suspect was apprehended on Saturday, 19 July, in the Kunda Kindu area by police officers who acted on a tip-off from members of the public. During the arrest, officers found the suspect in possession of 40 rolls of cannabis sativa.
According to a National Police Service statement, the arrest is part of an ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking and abuse across the country.
“On 19 July 2025, acting on a tip-off from members of the public, police officers on patrol arrested a suspect in Kunda Kindu area of Kitui Central,” read part of NPS statement, “The suspect was found in possession of 40 rolls of cannabis sativa and is currently in police custody. He is expected to be charged in court on Monday, 21 July 2025.”
NPS also reaffirmed its commitment to working with members of the public and other government agencies to dismantle drug networks and bring those involved to justice.
“The Service remains steadfast in its fight against the trafficking, possession, and abuse of narcotics and other illicit substances,” NPS statement added.
