Kenya Airways (KQ) has today 17th April, 2025 diverted some flights over fog.
In an official customer update on their X (formerly Twitter) account, Kenya Airways has noted that flights scheduled to land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) were diverted to Mombasa and Kilimanjaro.
According to Kenya Airways, the precaution is to ensure safety of everyone onboard the planes.
“We wish to inform our customers that due to poor visibility caused by fog this morning, some of our flights scheduled to land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) were diverted to Mombasa and Kilimanjaro. The diversions were a safety measure to ensure the well-being of our crew and customers, which is our number one priority,” KQ partly stated.
The flights body further admitted some flights will experience delays apologizing for any inconveniences it might cause to their clients with scheduled travels today while issuing contacts affected clients can use for more inquiry.
“As a result, we expect some delays today for certain flight departures and arrivals. Affected Customers can get in touch via +254711024747; Whatsapp +254705474747 or X @KQSupport for further assistance,” KQ concluded.
This is not the first time KQ is announcing divert in flights over poor weather. In July, 2024, KQ experienced delays in some flights as it similarly diverted flights to land in Mombasa and Kilimanjaro over poor visibility caused by foggy weather.
