Detectives from Embakasi Police Station have apprehended two prime suspects believed to be behind a daring burglary at a godown located at Atlantic Business Park, Embakasi, which occurred on April 20, 2025. The heist led to the theft of electronics and other items worth approximately Sh17.6 million.

According to a report filed at Mombasa Road Police Station, employees of Aetlantiq Group Limited were shocked to discover that Go Down No. 16 and No. 17 had been broken into when they resumed work after the Easter holidays.

Investigations revealed that a group of burglars armed with crude weapons gained access to the premises by cutting through the iron sheet roof, entering the accounts office and storeroom. The thieves made away with a trove of high-value items including 363 units of 43-inch Hisense televisions, 20 units of 20-inch HB TVs, 11 HS 218 soundbars, four HP laptops, mobile phones, desktop computers, school bags, vehicle spare parts, and CCTV servers.

Suspicion of an inside job grew stronger after it emerged that security personnel on duty during the incident failed to alert authorities despite an alarm being triggered. The guards have since gone into hiding and are being sought for questioning.

Following intensive investigations and forensic leads, detectives tracked down two key suspects, identified as James Macharia Mwangi and Keriko Wanjama. The duo was arrested at Scorpion Den Hotel in Ruai where a significant portion of the stolen items was recovered.

Additionally, a white Mitsubishi FH truck, rwas recovered at the scene, loaded with the stolen merchandise.

The suspects are currently in custody and are being processed ahead of their arraignment in court. Police have detained the recovered goods and vehicle as exhibits, as investigations continue to identify other accomplices and trace the missing security personnel.

Authorities have assured the public that efforts are ongoing to dismantle the criminal network behind the heist and bring all involved to justice.
