Liverpool concluded the signing of Dutch right back Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, marking their first acquisition of the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old has agreed to a five-year contract, with Liverpool triggering his £29.5 million (€35 million) release clause.

Frimpong’s arrival comes as a direct replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is set to join Real Madrid on a free transfer after 21 years at Anfield.

Despite initial competition from top European clubs, new Liverpool head coach Arne Slot played a pivotal role in convincing Frimpong to join the Reds.

Jeremie Frimpong’s time with Bayer Leverkusen has been marked by significant success, including a Bundesliga title and a league and cup double.

He joined the club in 2021 and quickly became a key player, excelling as a right-back with attacking flair.
